Love Vulnerageously

(inspired by Be Still Media to create art that is about hope, good and beauty, I share these thoughts in response to Saul Bellow’s quote: “Unexpected intrusions of beauty. This is what life is.”)

(I have tried to identify the photographer so I can give them credit, but unable to locate. If you have information, please let me know.)

In this time…
When it is precarious to be around others
Where sharing space
A touch
A kiss
Could be lethal

I want to love with reckless abandon

I long to step into the fog
Not looking down at where I am going
Barefoot

To leap across the chasm
Without a running start
Unable to see the other side
No net

Arms spread ready to take flight
A hatchling with gossamer wings
Unsure if I am an eagle
A butterfly
An ostrich

Without Plan B
No hedging bets
All in

Done looking over my shoulder
Wondering if there is something else

Stark naked for all the world to see
No make-up on
Eyes wide open
Warts and all
Exposed

In a world of possibilities
I am tired of happenstance

No waiting for circumstances to be just right
Time is fleeting
Tomorrow is not promised

Not simply because alone is hard
Not looking to feel completed
Craving abundance

Saying YES now
Embracing with my whole heart
Risking fully
To love… vulnerageously
